Today marks an emotional day for me. The NEL is officially opened. It's indeed been a long wait. Click picture to view the station info.

I still remember whenever my friends ask me how to come to my place, I've difficulty to let them know the easiest way, as the nearest MRT is Toa Payoh or Aljunied, and it's 15mins away.

As I took the escalator down the station, I have a new sense of expectancy for this $5-billion line. Although I still can't swallow the fact that we have to pay more for a driverless train, when it's cheaper to employ a one. The government has been helping to keep the construction industry alive by building the new buildings of HDB and MOE for instance. Why don't generate more employment for our people in this gloomy economic situation?

It's indeed been a long wait for this long forgotten suburb of Serangoon. People only know about Serangoon Gardens and Chomp Chomp. Besides this, poeple just thought that I live at Tekka area.

The train smells like a new car, with cheery purple and orange seats greeting every passengers. It is more comfy and ergonomic, and a tat more spacious that the older trains.

I took a lot of photos of the new Dhoby Gaut interchange and Serangoon station. As I came home today from CHC, I saw the spanking new Chinatown station. It reminded me of Fortitude Valley of Brisbane. Very chinois, with Chinese calligraphy and paintings donning the walls and pillars.

The only glitch I noticed today are the monitors displaying the time for the next train arriving and for stopping at the current non functional Woodleigh station. The rest are A ok.

As a former resident at Potong Pasir, I could understand the joy of the Singapore People's Party's Chiam See Tong. PP has always been a stigma in local politics as this is an opposition's led residential area. The area always get the latest (not best, but as in slowest) upgrades for flats, community centres...blah blah. After the long debated choice of Senette Estate and Potong Pasir, the latter finally prevail.

This has indeed mark another milestone for Singapore.
