I've finally uploaded the pics taken during my CNY trip to Perak.

Just got to photos (2) and click CNY'04 in Perak folder.

About the trip, we set off from Singapore at about 8pm on the 20th. It was a very long drive and we reached there about 6am in the morning.

We put up at Eliss's dad's place. It's located at the town of Sitiawan, Perak Darul Ridzuan. The house is in a little village called Changkat Keruing.

Perak by the way is the second largest state in Peninsular Malaysia.

Family of four just move around on a bike with ease, with no helmets on over there. Buildings are old and a lot of people put up at shop houses. They wake up really early, because when we went for breakfast at 10am, food is completely sold out at most outlets. Really shocked, man.

They like to eat this dry noodles stirred through in some soy sauce with ikan kuning (nasi lemak fish). It's the first time that I've ever tasted anything like that, and it's pretty good. Reasonably priced at RM1.70 a plate. Most of the food there are Foochow cuisines.

My favourite place there will be Lumut, a coastal town which is about 84 km from Ipoh in the northern part of Peninsula Malaysia. Lumut seems contented with its own pace of progress compared to how fast the rest of Malaysia is growing. Old, elegant buildings still house some of the town's administrative offices.

You can take a ferry from there to Pulau Pankor Laut as well, but we didn't because the older folks are not interested. Quite a pity really.

The D70 is Nikon's answer to the new sub-US$1,000 ($1700) digital SLR market, its clear competition being the Canon EOS 300D (Digital Rebel) announced last August. The D70 is revealed by Nikon exactly two years since the D100, the D70 appears to share quite a lot with its sibling including the six megapixel CCD sensor, 3D color matrix metering and Multi-CAM900 auto focus system. The D70 also appears to have quite a bit going for it which are the primary complaints for EOS 300D owners, flash exposure compensation being one of them.

Nikon Corporation will launch the D70 worldwide in March 2004.
