Gd'day, mate! Exactly 219 years ago, today, Captain Arthur Phillip arrived at Sydney Cove and set up the Colony of New South Wales. And thanks to him, Australia Day was celebrated as a public holiday by all states since then.
Not everyone is joyous on this day. The Aboriginal call this day "Invasion Day" as they regard it as celebrating the decimation of their people, the confiscation of their lands and the destruction of their culture.
In recent years, some indigenous Australians have also celebrated the day as "Survival Day," thankful that their ancestors were not completely wiped out by the newly arrived settlers.
Well, whatever it is, we are just going to enjoy this long weekend.
We spent the afternoon rollerblading at Centennial Park, away from the crowd partying at Hyde Park and Darling Harbour. I played coach to Yen and Chun as they got their new pairs of rollerblades from Fox Studio.
They were such fast learners, and put me to shame when I picked up the sport when I was 16. I took weeks to be able to move and they just took less than 30 minutes.

We went for a super late night supper as we had super irregular meals today. Breakfast at 10.45am, lunch at 4.45pm and supper.
This place was quite full of people, even at this time of the night. It felt more like Hong Kong than Australia, man.
Snake on a farm
We were not the only ones hungry. A total of 11 guard dogs were eaten alive by a 70kg python at a fruit orchard in Malaysia for the past 3 months.
Orchard-keeper Ali Yusof said that the snake was almost long enough to span the width of a tennis court and as thick as a tree trunk. Eww...

This is official: The PS3 will go on sale in Australia on 23/3/07.
But only the more expensive $999 model will be offered. Sony had previously promised also to offer a $829 bundle, which had similar features but lacked memory card slots and wireless connectivity and included a smaller hard drive.
If you have been aiming to own one, I'll suggest you go ask friends in the US to help you buy as it costs much cheaper at $US599 ($770). Don't say I say one!
