Inspired from the last balcony barbie, we decide to do our very own today. Yup, on a Tuesday evening. Who say cannot?

We went to buy Heat Beads (BBQ fuel) from Coles yesterday night, really excited about today.

After I came home from work, I had to read the instructions on how to use the white chocolate look-alike fire starters.

After numerous attempts, things finally seems to be happening.

Well, according to the labels, no kindling was required. So I just went indoor to prepare some food, taking it easy and expecting the charcoals to glow red.

After about 15 mins, I went back to check the fire, only to realise that it died! Oh no!

So I repeated the process, and the same thing happened. I did the same thing for the next 1 hr.

As Eliss and the rest came back, they saw me kindling the flames at the kitchen, not knowing the smoke detector went off just a couple of minutes ago. Everything was so difficult!

When can we start the barbie? So hungry now...

Thai style Barrumundi and tiger prawns, seasoned with fish sauce, chili, parsley and lemon juice.

Traditional favourites - chicken wings marinated with a secret recipe which tasted like KFC, some even say it's better.

Aussie style Rump steak with just salt and pepper to retain its natural flavours..

Eliss's fave, frenched lamb chops coated with italian herbs and garlic, a la Greek.

Everything finally settled down with nice hot coals burning. The surf and turf in harmony as the sizzling music played underneath the grills.

Chun BYO some Orange Muscat and Floral from Brown Brothers. Really Really sweet, I meant the wine.

Eliss and I enjoying everything to the last crumbs. We'll organise a bigger and better barbie next time, after today's experience.

We went on to watch Flushed Away, starring Hugh Jackman and Kate Winslet. Even LOTR's main actors like Andy Serkis (Gollum), Ian McKellen (Gandalf) were part of the stellar lineup.

You know, this is life. Good food, great friends and a few cups of drinks. For everything else money can't buy, there are still more Heat Beads.

same experience with the heat beads and white fire starters! we had a lot of "failures" and it kept dying on us during our first bbq at Mt Tamborine. Makes us miss our old charcoal and "tar mak"... nothing beats them... haha..
