The 2007 Mardi Gras Season began on 2nd February and culminated earlier with the world famous night-time parade through the streets of Sydney.

The main theme for 2007 is "Objects of Love".

It was my first time attending this, which was the 29th by the way and my "gaydar" just went overdrive.

You know you can sort of tell if someone is straight or gay when you see them, right? But just now, my congitive senses just went blank as I see straight dancing with gay, lesbians hugging gays, and people kissing people.

It is interesting to note that Mardi Gras began on June 24, 1978 as a protest march and commemoration of the Stonewall Riots.

And now, it has become an annual attraction featuring 120 floats and a record 8000 participants. They came dressed as giant butterflies, dancing Kylie Minogues, baby-pushing Vicky Pollards and a patrol of gay surf lifesavers.

Dykes on Bikes with their missus was a customary act.

The walk from Hyde Park and along Oxford Street was a real struggle as I was sandwiched between 300,000 other revellers.

Companies took this opportunity to market their products to the very lucrative "pink dollar" market.

People were cheering and dancing to the beats. Alcohol flowed freely and glass bottles were everywhere.

And a few were out to make a statement for themselves, especially after a few drinks.

1000,000 milk crates are lost this time every year and no wonder the dairy farmers are not impressed how they are being used.

I had heaps of fun. Will definitely come back again next year. I will bring my own stool so I don't have to smell armpits as I move along.
