As we were about to fall asleep last night, spectacular lightning bolts lit up the skies and thunder rumbled. Eliss was so hoping that she need not have to work the next day so she could sleep in.
Who would have guessed that that the Bureau of Meteorology issued its highest weather alert around 11pm.
Fire brigades were kept busy all night. A lightning strike damaged a transformer in Minto, plunging part of the area into darkness, while a house in Gordon was hit by a falling tree.
Traffic lights blacked out across Sydney, fallen trees on the Bells Line of Road and flooding at Wheeny Creek Bridge in Kurrajong Heights.
And we just slept through the severe thunderstorm that tore through the city.

Wouldn't it be nice to own a soon to launch Nokia 6110 with built-in GPS navigation?
By using the one-touch Navigator button below the directional keypad, you could select whether you want to travel via the shortest distance or reach our destination in the soonest time possible.
Whether in a car speeding downtown or in the Pedestrian mode, the onboard speakers on the rear were loud and clear, especially important when one has to keep one's eyes peeled on the traffic while receiving voice guidance.
This quadband Navigator will come with 3G and HSDPA (High-speed Downlink Packet Access) capable of reaching speeds of up to 3.6Mbps. What's missing are wireless LAN and infrared. Fortunately, there's Bluetooth and push email, in addition to a Message reader function that reads emails or text messages aloud.
I'm sold! This will be a great help on those road trips, when we get our very own car of course.
