After eating out the whole week, having home cooked food away from home is an experience by itself.
Especially if its for Reunion Dinner.
This is the first reunion dinner we had since many years ago. I reckon mine was just before we relocated to Sydney.
We didn't actually believe this day will happen as her parents were pretty reluctant to travel here due to work commitment. So when they told Eliss that they want to come and visit us, it came as a surprise.
For those who are still living with parents, or living near them may find reunion dinner just another meal with better food on the table.
Abalone, prawns, sea cucumber, waxed duck, and the list goes on.
But when you are living overseas, to be able to have a meal with your family really epitomize the true meaning of this occasion.

My in laws went to Paddy's Market to pick up 3 promfets.

Boiled chicken, drizzled with soy sauce flavoured with fried shallots.

Roast duck, bought at Chinatown.

Kangkong stir fried with homemade sambal sauce.

Chicken soup with sweet corn and lettuce.
After that, we just laze around in the lounge room. I miss those variety shows on Channel 8 where they will do count downs and have celebrities sing and dance for us.
I don't miss the cheesy CNY songs though. Even some argues it adds to the atmosphere of celebration, I beg to differ.
