Today is Labour Day, where the workers have another day of rest. The last public holiday (PH) we had was Queen's Birthday in June.

It's about time we have a long weekend, as the last one was 4 mths ago!

Australia only has 10 gazetted PHs, so each one is so precious.

It's 2 more months to the next PH, and I'm super looking forward for the super long weekend for Christmas, as it falls on a Thurs. Boxing Day is a PH here as well, so it will be 4 days of rest.

We wanted to go Port Stephens to watch dolphins, but Newcastle was having a storm today. We don't want to drive 3hrs there and see an umbrella parade.

So, we went to Campsie instead to walk walk. It's interesting to explore different suburbs each week as they are all quite distinctive.

Didn't know that Campsie was named after the Campsie parish in Stirlingshire, Scotland.

Anyway, this suburb is a real melting pot of cultures, you see a Korean signboard after 2 other 2 Chinese and a Vietnamese signboards.

I read from eatability.com that this stall is pretty good, and it was! You can taste from the gravy that they had added some herbs to the roast duck to make the flavour so yummy.

I especially enjoyed the gliblets (or gizzards).

After lunch, we continued shopping and walked into a discount stall which was having a closing down sale, since 2 years ago when I first walked in.

Ironically, some of the shops around it has REALLY closed down.

$8 Converse All Stars?!

No way! They are Zhejiang Juhang!

Wah! Like that also can?!

Battle of the Chicken Powders

Way before my IT days, I was selling chicken powders (well, not just) to earn a living.

So for those of you back in Singapore who are wondering why food taste so good outside, I just revealed one of the secret ingredients.

Knorr is the market leader, and I used to sell heaps of these every months by the carton loads.

This particular variety was actually banned in Singapore by the AVA, but can be found here.

When I was at the Asian grocers, I saw this very familiar looking package, and realised that it was not Knorr's.

How uncanny are the resemblances?

Wah, this must be the luxury edition. They even come with free range versions nowadays.

Unilever Singapore, watch out! These may be reaching your shore very soon.
