Knowing quite a few students from China who received their HSC results not too long ago, I wonder if they are aware that there are apparently ways to get bonus points for university entry.

Unis can award students up to 10 bonus points above their Universities Admission Index (UAI) for special consideration such as financial hardship, disrupted schooling, refugee status, illness and disability.

There is one Sydney medical clinic out there that is cashing on this. It charges $582 for an initial consultation, and $30 for completion of the Board of Studies and the Educational Access Scheme forms.

Dodgy, man! This is like the good old days when my friends geng (pretend) to get fake medical certificates to be deemed unfit for regular training, aiming to have an easier life in army.

Same old, same old.

The Year of the Ox, which also happens to be my mum's zodiac is happening exactly in 14 sleeps!

This is her year! Woohoo!

AsiaOne is having a photography competition. Rip out your camera and capture the photos that best personifies the spirit of CNY.

Email your photos to a1photo@sph.com.sg under the email subject: CNY 2009 contest.

Deadline is Jan 25, 2359 hours.

I'll be going down to Belmore Park next Friday evening for the Launch Celebrations to capture some good photos.

There will be the famous Chinese New Year Markets and activity marquees teaching tai chi, Chinese drumming and Lion Dancing. Ang mo style.

Maybe I should give it a go as well...
