Woke up at 11am today, just in time to watch Justice League. May go back to bed again to laze around, catch up on sleep.
My pc hanged again just now, think it may still be infected by one of those malicious worms. To remove yours (if there's any), just click at the Singnet logo and it'll lead you on how to do it.
Cooked some laksa for my family. Reminded of the good ol' days at Brisbane with Eliss, where I'll also cook lasksa for her for lunch. We'll go to Yuen's to get some tau pok, fish cake and meat. Then I'll use Woolworth's fresh milk instead of coconut milk as a healthier alternative.
August 27 marks the closest that Mars and Earth have been since nearly 60,000 years ago, when the Neanderthals lived! Mars won't be this close again until 2287. With this this in mind, Eliss and I went to the Science Centre last night and tried to catch a glimspe of the Red Planet. The crowd there was simply like the stars in the sky, so many! It's like 11pm at night but no one seems to be in bed.
Sian by the sheer number of people there, we just went into the Science Centre to look at the exhibits. I think the last time I went there was in Sec 3 or 4 to the Omni Theatre. Really brought back a lot of memories. Met L there selling Lipton Ice Tea, and got conned to buy 2 bottles from her as she already pop open the bottles before I agreed to. Well, guess have to support her and company lor...
Mars oppositions happen about every 26 months. Every 15 or 17 years, opposition occurs within a few weeks of Mars' perihelion (the point in its orbit when it is closest to the sun).
An opposition can occur anywhere along Mars' orbit. When it happens while the red planet is closest to the sun (called "perihelic opposition"), Mars is particularly close to Earth. If Earth and Mars both had perfectly stable orbits, then each perihelic opposition would bring the two planets as close as they could be. But once again, nature throws in a few complications. Gravitational tugging by the other planets constantly changes the shape of our orbits a little bit. Giant Jupiter especially influences the orbit of Mars. Also, the orbits of Earth and Mars don't lie in quite the same plane. The paths the planets take around the sun are slightly tilted with respect to each other.
So fancy staying there?
Went for a Food Summit gathering with the ex delegates from UQ. A flew here from Hong Kong so we treated him to a nice meal at Rendevous Restaurant. We caught up with one another's life and what happened during the 8 months of MIA since we last met. Glad to hear that all are doing well, some in MNCs.
The chicken korma is always my all time favourites. I remembered Rendezvous Restaurant Hock Lock Kee's history, when it started as a small coffee shop in Bras Basah Road. It has high back wooden chairs and marble tables. It became a household name that is synonymous with Nasi Padang before it move to Raffles City.
Earlier, we were at Paradiz Centre just to walk around. There were a lot of young girls dressed in tight skirts and high heels. Not that I like to stereotype people, I just don't think they are your regular office girls. Anyway... it's none of my business what people do for their living.
Went for tennis on Thursday with colleagues at Stardus Clubhouse. Had a great time playing and getting to know one another better. Had dinner at the revamped River Valley hawker centre.
Went for Pastor Ulf's seminar on Wednesday at church. To listen to his life changing sermon, just click on the picture above.
Pastor Ulf is the chairman of Word of Life Foundation and as a teacher at the Word of Life Bible Centre, which has graduated more than 7000 students since its inception in 1983. Word of Life has also started Bible Schools in Russia, the Czech Republic, Albania and India. Ekman is also the President and Founder of Livets Ord University, affiliated with Oral Roberts University (ORU) in Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA. Pastor Ulf has been a member of ORU's Board of Regents since 1997.
Caught the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (LXG) with Eliss. Based on the comic book by Alan Moore and Kevin O'Neill, LXG brings together a wide array of figures from classic literature to join forces and do battle against a megalomaniac out to start a World War between England and Germany. The time is 1899, and a masked villain known as the Phantom has begun to destroy both countries in an attempt to create a strife between them, and, thus, getting the chance to sell his new high-tech weaponry. To prevent this from happening, British secret agent "M" (Richard Roxburgh) enlists the aid of aging adventurer Allan Quartermain (Sean Connery), sea-farer Captain Nemo (Naseeruddin Shah), the Invisible Man (Tony Curran), and Dracula's ex-lover and newly vampiric Mina Harker (Peta Wilson).
Given free reign to find anyone else who may want to join their new "LXG," Quartermain later finds help in the form of the immortal Dorian Gray (Stuart Townsend), Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (Jason Flemyng), and the now-adult Tom Sawyer (Shane West). As their quest leads them to Venice, across the open seas in a gigantic submarine known as the Nautilus, and finally to the snowy mountains of Mongolia, it becomes increasingly apparent that one of their own may secretly be in cahoots with the Phantom.
