My younger sister left for Europe today for a year long road trip. Her first stop will be in Berlin.
Yesterday evening, we had a great laugh while having dinner together at our parent's place. We made silly jokes about Nike's latest collaboration with iPod.
She thought that ear phones will be plugged into the sneakers and can listen to songs on the run. Haha.
Anyway, we briefly chatted and she went to her room to talk on her mobile.
Before I left home at about 11pm, she helped me open the door. All of a sudden, I realised that I will not be seeing her for a least a year. Although I will be going to Australia soon, but the fact that she will be alone in a foreign land suddenly sank in. I was slightly worried for her as she had never done this before. Although she is a smart and independent person, I just want to make sure that she is safe.
I just stretched out my arms and hugged her. It's been a long time since I hugged her, the last time was perhaps when we were kids.
Tears began to welt up in my eyes, as I reminded her to be wise in everything that she does. She began to cry.
We continued to hug for a while more before I left for home.
Must we only know how much we love someone, only when they are going to be away from you?
