Healthy fast food. Does such a thing exist anyway?
These days many companies are offering healthier choices and recreating their menus to be lighter, lower-fat options.
Key things to watch out for is the portion size, and order the smallest size of whatever you choose.
Find things that aren't deep fried and things with bread are a healthier choice, there's less fat there and more fibre and filling value.
Here's a rough guide on how much fat you can expect to find in the following foods:
Fat content
Doner kebab: 26 grams
Fish and chips: 35 grams
Hamburger with bacon and cheese: 30 grams
Club sandwich: 38 grams
Nachos: 70 grams
Caesar salad: 26 grams
Sushi rolls: 10 grams
Never assume chicken is necessarily better for you. Figures has actually shown that there is actually the same amount of fat in a chicken burger as in the beef burger.
If you're after McDonalds, order a lean beef burger and your worst choice is a quarter pounder with cheese.
At Hungry Jack's, your best option is a Caesar salad and your worst option is a Whopper with cheese.
At Subway, go for a roast beef six-inch sub over the spicy Italian sub.
Red Rooster's best choice is a Baguette D'Lite and the worst thing on the menu is a Flayva wrap.
At KFC, pick the chicken fillet burger over a Twister.
And at Sumo, a spicy barbecue prawn salad is a much healthier option than the chicken Caesar salad.
Looking forward for a leaner body for this summer. Time to hit the beaches!
