It's been a really long time since I went to Canberra. Probably since uni days when a group of us came down to Sydney from Brisbane for a holiday.
I recalled it was a sleepy town with a small casino, nothing much to shout about.
Along the highway, it felt like an area only Rex will fly to. Plenty of sheep and cows grazing the never ending pastures.
Half of the highway was jam packed with trucks after about 2hrs driving. Initially, I thought the truckies were having a strike or something, but found out later over the radio that there was a massive accident at the front.
They blocked the road, and all the smaller vehicles were made to go through the small road.
Stopping over for a pee break at one these zinc roof bathrooms.
I got the greatest shock inside as there was no flush on the bowl.
It was like a well, and I could see shit deep inside, loh. Good thing it's winter now so no funny smell. Imagine summer with all the flies hovering...
I thought Australia is a first world country, how come we still have toilets like this?
Very green with zero carbon footprint. Truly organic.
Finally, after a 3 hrs drive, we see the landmark of Canberra, the Parliament House.
Behind me is the Singapore Embassy. Very patriotic of me, right?
Maybe it's the NDP spirit. I wonder if they serve Tiger Beer inside.
Lunch was at their Chinatown at Dickson, which was pretty close to the CBD area.
The place was really small, with a couple of Asian groceries and restaurants along the 2 sides of the road.
I had roast duck noodles with wonton soup, which was kinda pricey at $13.80.
On the way back, we stopped to refuel and I couldn't help but notice a giant sheep towering over everything else there.
Was it some tourist attraction? Nah, it was just for a shop selling merino wool products.
What that between the legs? Guess this must be a ram then.
