Early in the morning, Eliss went to the post office to pick up a parcel for a friend. Feeling a little hungry, we ordered a plate of nasi lemak to share.
For $2.70, we weren't too impressed that the lady boss said that the fried chicken wings were not ready and his ikan bilis supplier hasn't delivered her stock.
Chwee Kway! A great breakfast item at only $1 for the lot.
I love the crunchy chai bor (preserved radish) the most. I can eat it on its own.
We met up with Casey and Dot to go JB together. I got the biggest sense of rip off when they only sell $2 for a plate of nasi lemak complete with chicken wings, eggs and ikan bilis.
Check out our cute couple shirts! It's been a very long time since we went to JB on a bus, usually we will hitch a ride from my auntie who runs a pharmacy in there.
We are almost there. With the exchange rate of RM1 = S$0.46, everything is half price is Malaysia!
I get get confused with their white card policy. We were supposed to fill that up whenever we go through the custom, but they decided to scrap the idea as it cost them a lot of money to print them. Now they decided to reinstate the policy.
They can't seem to make up their mind.
Anyway, our first stop was City Square to grab some lunch. This char chan teng (Hong Kong Teahouse) is one of Eliss's favourite.
Ice blended Yakult, which was really refreshing in this hot weather. Tasted a lot like Calpis Water, which is my fave.
I ordered a spicy ramen, not very "Hongky" at all.
Sai Tosi (French Toast) with peanut butter, Eliss's favourite.
Not really impressed with this dish, supposed to be BBQ chicken wings with cheese but it looks like a dish that came out from a home econs class.
Overall, the food was good pretty good, although I think that Sydney one tasted better.
Casey recommended a massage place where we have really good aromatherapy massage. So we went to this place called Fizzio.
Before going into the rooms, have to wash legs first at one of the many taps around.
These are the beds where we got tortured. The masseuses were really strong and I was cringing all the way. I was screaming silently as I don't know should I ask her to stop or this is the way it felt.
Boy, was I glad it was over. I wonder if this is what they call tough love.
My Dad used to tapao the food from here back home whenever he is in JB.
This restaurant is quite popular with Singaporeans. Even the MediaCorp eating programs featured them a few times on TV.
Their signature Emperor Chicken. I reckon the chicken lost weight and shrunk a few sizes.
Exotic stuff that you can't find in Singapore.
The wok hei is strong with the sambal kang kong.
Nope, this is not oyster omelet but otah omelet. The dark colour paste is actually spicy fish paste.
Interesting dish, right?
After all the heaty food, we moved to the restaurant next door for from Kwee Ling Gao (jelly dessert) to cool down.
Eat and shop. That's the only 2 things you do in JB. FOS has got to be my favourite place to stock up on American brands like Abercrombie & Fitch, Gap and American Eagle.
What do you do after shopping? Eating, of course! We have Indonesian this time round.
BBQ Squid.
Beef Rendang.
The BBQ fish was really good.
Thank you Casey for shouting us dinner tonight!
