We're on our way to Orchard Road, which we initially hesitated as it is Deepavali today.
What the heck, we are back once a year and a little claustrophobia won't kill us.
Orchard Road has definitely changed, or been changing since last year. There are so many constructions going on.
The Ion Orchard is one of them, and check out how it would look like when completed!
You can't walk through Wisma Atria to Takashimaya anymore, and have to brave the heat come up and walk along the main road.
Where else in the world would you need to take a queue to buy a mobile phone?
Besides this shop, the rest are pretty quiet. Quite surprised that the shopping crazy nation actually gave Orchard Road a miss during a public holiday. Guess the credit crunch must have hurt many pockets.
I love the Tori Q yakitori sticks. It's amazing to see the number of sticks it churns out in a minute. The boss must be laughing all the way to the bank.
Over at Paragon, there is a live kitchen featuring a chef making soba from scratch at Shimbashi Soba.
Seems like it's an in thing now to bring the chefs out of the kitchen to showcase their skills.
At Jason's, where the rich shop, I saw these Japanese grapes going at $40 a box. No kidding!
What is so special about these grapes that they can command such exorbitant price?
Not to be outdone, these pears are going at $14 a pop, or about $1 a bite.
We walked over to Heeren, wanted to check out some Nikes at Limited Edition Vault. Nothing special in there.
And the whole mall is so quiet too. This does not look good.
We went to this collectibles toy shop at Far East Plaza and I saw this Takara version of Optimus Prime. I wanted to get the Hasbro series last year, but didn't get it in the end.
Eliss saw that I liked this and got it for me. Thanks, dear!
To rest our sore feet, we had a break at Ya Kun and ordered the traditional favourites.
The super thin toasts with kaya and butter pieces in between, a heavenly combination indeed.
Munch!
For dinner, we are meeting Eliss's poly mates at Dempsey Hill, the current place to see and to be seen.
I heard it used to be the old CMPB, and now they converted it to a lifestyle place.
We missed out having Chilli Crab the last time we came back, but not this time.
Eliss wanted to visit Dempsey, I wanted seafood. So we combined the ideas together!
The piece de resistance, Chilli Crab!
I almost drank all the sauces in the pot until Eliss stopped me. But you can't find such good stuff in Sydney. If you don't do it now, have to wait until next year leh!
