I'm always fascinated at how people make money on the internet, especially using innovative ideas. My eBay sales was a flop. I didn't sell anything I posted, and have to pay them a listing fee.
Meet Chen Xiao, a 25-year-old Beijing native, who started her unusual online business last month on auction website Taobao.com.
On the site, she sells time slots to do anything - ranging from eight-minute to one-day slots, except "sex, porn, violence and anything illegal".
People who wish to book her for an assignment need only to log on to her auction site, send her a description of the intended task and the estimated duration, and upon her approval, send her payment.
Her first assignment, which came just a few days after her online store was set up, was to "pose triumphantly" for a photograph and post it online.
Then came several other assignments: To photograph a flag-raising ceremony at Tiananmen Square, to get herself photographed at the entrances of Beijing University and Tsinghua University, and to have a bowl of noodles at a well-known food outlet.
What a great freelance job! Maybe I should do something like this as well. You know, like being a freelance PA or something. You pay me for whatever you want me to do within that time frame.
But then again, she is quite pretty, so I'm, sure it helps to drive a few more sales. If people see my photo, they might just pay me not to do anything. Which is not that bad too, if it really happens.
Feeling the credit crunch? I certainly feel it in Sydney. 2009 has certainly been challenging for me.
Looks like some restaurants in Singapore are biting the bullet are offering cheap as chips yusheng.
I mean, come on! How much does shredded vegetables and a couple slices of raw fish REALLY cost?
So, if you want to "huat ah" at a budget, drop by Concorde Hotel (former Meridien) or Ikea during this CNY period.
