Happy Boxing Day from Shelly Beach!

We are up the cliff for picnic. Talk about living a high life.

Great food with great friends, what more can you ask for?

The view was breathtaking. Clear blue sky above, and deep blue sea below. The sound of the waves hitting the rocks and the gentle sea breeze against our face was just therapeutic.

What a beautiful day.

After a sumptuous meal, I got bitten by the sleep bug and took a nap (and a suntan) too.

We went down to Cabbage Tree Cove, and was shocked by the number of people cramping into this little beach.

Shelly Beach is full of broken shells (hence the name) and it cuts! I had to be very careful to walk on them.

There are many crustaceans growing on the big rocks. Really interesting. I tried to pull up out, but they were stuck to them no matter how I tried.
We went to watch Happy Feet in the evening at Macquarie Centre.
It was deja vu for Eliss and I as we had been here many years ago during uni days to pick up a someone for dinner.
Ever wondered how the animated penguins looked like in real life?
Mumble
Emperor Penguin chicks are covered with a thick layer of light gray down. This covering ensures that they retain as much heat as possible, vital at this early stage when they are not capable of maintaining their body temperature.
Memphis and Norma Jean
The Emperor Penguin is the tallest and heaviest of all living penguin species. It is the only penguin that breeds during the winter in Antarctica.
In May or June, the female penguin lays one egg, but at this point her nutritional reserves are exhausted and she must immediately return to the sea to feed. Very carefully, she transfers the egg to the male penguin, who will incubate the egg in his brood pouch for about 65 days consecutively without food by surviving on his fat reserves and spending the majority of the time sleeping to conserve energy.
Ramón and the amigos
Adelie penguins were discovered in 1830 by French explorer, Dumont d'Urville, who named them after his wife.
The Adelie penguins arrive at their breeding grounds in October and heir nests consist of stones piled together.
Lovelace
The Rockhopper Penguins breeds mainly on the Falkland Islands, and on islands off Argentina and southern Chile.
These small yellow-crested, black-and-white penguin have slate-grey upperparts and a straight, bright yellow eyebrow ending in long yellowish plumes, projecting sideways behind a red eye.
Alpha Skua
South Polar Skua eats mainly fish, which it often obtains by robbing gulls, terns and even gannets of their catches. It will also directly attack and kill other seabirds.
I personally like the movie very much.
It taught me the lesson not to judge anyone whom you thought are weird. They may be world shakers and history makers in the future.
