I reckon this is a pretty darn good movie, and it doesn't feel 166min long at all.
I did a good quick research and the movie is totally different from the 1912 book of the same title by F. Scott Fitzgerald.
I love the storytelling, and the makeup. Wow. You can really see Hollywood magic turning people in their forties to look like twenties.
And how did they make Brad Pitt so short as an old man? Probably using the same technique for the Hobbits in Lord of the Rings. I truly amazed.
Brad Pitt is hot in there, just ask Eliss. His onscreen chemistry with Cate Blanchett is electrifying, way better than compared to their characters in Babel.
If you prefer to read the book, you can read everything here online.
I prefer the movie anytime.
