Time flies! It's that time of the year again. We were invited to Joseph's place in the city for a dinner potluck gathering.
We took the bus to the city as we thought that George St would be closed.

Policemen and anti-riot squads getting ready for revelers with ideas of any funny business, which is more than likely after the countless bottles of alcohol.

On the way to pick up the sushi platter at Makoto, there a group of Japanese girls who hired a stretch limo to party the night away. Here are they posing before hopping on.
Leading the high life, momentarily.

While there are some people who believe that living lowly is the place to go, it's better to beg than to find a proper job.
And might as well stay up to date with the newspaper, since just sitting all day long on the pavement can get boring.

We reached Joseph's place after a good walk, thank God the weather was getting cooler.
The view from his place is amazing. You can see Anzac Bridge from his balcony.

Can someone remove that 2 big thing in front that is blocking the Opera House?

Traffic was getting lesser as they start to build barricades to prevent cars from accessing the Harbour Bridge.

I bet all these people are pretending to work late so that they can catch the fireworks.

Thanks for inviting us over! It's time to eat dinner!

Chloe made some tacos with salsa dip, and some baked potato skins with bacon.

The sushi platter we got earlier.

Luke and Sarah made some salad.

Tjivi brought some cherries.

And then the family fireworks began at 9pm, so that the kiddies can go to bed earlier. Right, like they will on NYE.
As the fireworks were partially blocked by 2 hotels, I decided to stitch the different photos together to create something of my own.
I'm quite happy with the result, actually.
We went to church for a short service and dedicated 2009 to the Lord.

William suggested we go to Five Dock to do the countdown as it was nearer and not as crowded.
We didn't mind of course as it was a 5min drive home from there.

We found a good spot by the waters and waited for the $6m fireworks to fill the sky.
At the stroke of midnight, the sky lit up and people cheered.

I like the fireworks reflection on the still waters. It has got this calming effect about it.
Of course, these photos can't be compared to these taken from vantage points by the pros. But hey, we are happy at where we are!

Today marks another chapter in life as an Aussie PR.
2009 will be great, I know that I know that I know.
